I’ve been using AI to speed up my workflow in making tracks and albums. I think it can be a real tool to move along the process, and here’s one of the things that I’ve been using it for lately.
Before continuing, I should say that I think that AI is trying to ruin the music industry, and I don’t like it at all. Will it in the end, though? Probably not. (God, I hope not.) All of the AI-generated music sounds awful to me.
I see AI as a tool that can help music producers, and that is what I will always see it as – not a replacement for music producers and true artists. So here’s how I’m making AI my bitch…
Track Naming
I have a Hell of a time with naming my tracks. I often make the track and then when it is finished try and think what the name of it should be. This is painful and takes a lot of time.
Now, I use an AI agent to help me out with it.
I wrote an agent script that takes my input and gives me some ideas of the track names and a backstory for the track. The backstory is like what the inspiration could have been and it often gets me thinking about it in different ways. I often say “Hmm, that is kind of what it sounds like and is kind of what I was thinking of when I made it.”
So it is a clarifying thing for me.

There’s usually some back and forth with it until I get something I like, but this collaborative process with the AI really gets me into the naming process much quicker than if I did it on my own.

While it may not seem like a big deal, it becomes one for me because I am not great at this aspect of my music-making. It has been frustrating for me to have finished tracks and not know what to name them. This helps, and the AI, when used collaboratively, really helps me in my thinking about what to name each track. Used creatively, AI can be a benefit to musicians, and this is one example.
