“Better” is subjective but here are my preferences when it comes to listening to Spotify.
There are not a lot of options when it comes to listening to Spotify to make it sound better, but here are a few that have had an impact on my ears:
- Turn off the data saver. This is an option in settings under Audio Quality. Make sure it is off. It will cost you some extra bandwidth, but will immediately give you better-quality sound. This has some improvement, but not much, and you probably already had it off anyway.
- Change the volume level to Quiet. It is in settings under playback and the sub-menu called volume level. By changing this, you will get a wider dynamic range and this will make the music more punchy because when the music gets quiet, the low volume levels are lower than the standard setting, so the volume excursions are more dynamic. It has a good impact on making the music sound better, so it is definitely worth trying out. This works best on headphones or earbuds but can work well in some cars. Try it out and see.
- Get the SoundID app from Sonarworks. This one works best for earphones, earbuds, and headphones. SoundID is compatible with Spotify and will tune your listening device to reproduce sound much better and be tailored for just your ears. This by far has the most impact on the sound quality of the music and I would highly recommend it. It comes as an app and automatically detects when you are using Spotify and allows you to turn it on or off.
These may not work for you, but try them out if you can. I found some success with them and I hope they could help you too.
Also, as a general recommendation, I would consider getting SoundID from Sonarworks for your desktop or laptop computer. It works with your headphones or speaker system to make the environment neutral so the music you produce or listen to is consistent. This has made a big effect on my music production.
